Call Sciopero, 2010
Performance in the public space of Essen, five Youtube films, different length.
A grey Fiat 600 drives through the city of Essen. Randomly and without discernable reasons a strike is announced via loudspeakers. Equipped with its megaphones and the same unchanging text, this little strike mobile drives to certain urban institutions (the town hall, Villa Hügel, the Aldi and Karstadt headquarters, etc.) two or three times a week. Strike as a basic attitude.
The “Call Sciopero” actions were inspired by the opening sequence in Michelangelo Antonioni’s film “Red Desert”, in which two men in an identically equipped Fiat 600 drive up to the walls of a factory in order to announce a strike.
