Fünf Wunden (Five Wounds), 2000

Installation, isolated floor shafts, plastic membranes, glass plates with screen print, fluorescent tubes, glass. Herz-Jesu Kirche, München-Neuhausen.
Architects: Allmann Sattler Wappner.

Five bright white honeycombed 2,5m deep shafts were imbedded in different parts of the church floor. Altogether the arrangement of the underground shafts forms a abstract cross on the floor plan.

The shafts narrow downwards and end round. Through smalll floor windows the church attendee can look into the rooms. They are illuminated by not locatable, bright light. In the centre of each shaft a glass plate with a motive is vertically recessed. The motives being shown are successive photographs of the crucifixion; starting with the application and hammering of the nails, ending with the heart wound with coagulated blood.
