The two scenes show parallel shots of two couples on the dance floor. A young man dances with a young woman to a bass-heavy disco beat. In parallel, the same person dances with a young man. The dialogues of the two couples are virtually identical and interwoven. The speech and the relationship of the bodies to each other are the same, but they take on a different emotional tone in the case of each of the couples. Ambiguity is created through the simultaneity of heterosexual and homosexual flirtations mirrored in the two scenes.
The fragments of dialogue are taken from the film Saturday Night Fever (1977) by John Badham.
